St Cross u15b v Compton & Chandlers Ford

Once the rain had finally passed and the sun came out, play was finally able to start up at Compton. Having lost the toss, St Cross were sent into the field. Tight bowling from Sid, Morgan and Monty got us off to a good start. Sid then bowled a corker of a delivery to send the stumps of their opening batsman scattering. But, conditions were tricky for bowling and fielding due to the wet ground and wet ball and runs and extras soon started to flow. Compton posted a rather formidable score in the end of 149. It must be said that according to one of their players, half of their team were first team players. (they’d had a few last minute drop outs from B team players).

The St Cross boys found batting tough going against a strong and probing bowling attack. Monty batted well until picking the wrong ball to try to carve through the off side. Seb stole the show though with a spectacular six and some strong leg side hitting, he reached retirement on 29 but could unfortunately add no more on his return to the crease. In the end St Cross fell short of the total but I’d say the boys attitude and effort through out was spot on. Well done boys against a very strong ‘B’ team. Sent from my iPhone
