

St Cross Women’s 2s produced a brilliant all-round team performance to secure a dominant 10-wicket victory over Ropley on Sunday, and go top of the table. After winning the toss and choosing to field, St Cross were sharp from the very beginning, keeping the pressure on with disciplined bowling and energetic fielding throughout the innings. Michelle Murphy starred with the ball, taking an excellent four wickets, while Becca Gunstone and Imogen Bell both chipped in with two wickets apiece to help bowl Ropley out for 90 in 31.5 overs. Steph Trueman also got herself on the scoresheet with a wicket as the bowlers shared the success in a clinical display.
Chasing 91 to win, St Cross made the target look comfortable. Jess Wilson anchored the innings superbly with an unbeaten 51 (her first St Cross senior 50), while Abi Miller provided great support with 32* in her first St Cross innings, as the pair guided the team home without losing a wicket in just 19.2 overs.
