

After losing the toss and being sent into the field in extremely hot conditions, St Cross showed great energy throughout their innings in the field. Despite the heat, the bowlers worked hard to keep the pressure on from the start. Emily Wilson picked up two wickets, while Kitty Redhead and Maisie Ayers both claimed three wickets each, with Iris also contributing a run out. Alton were left all out for 117 as they only had 10 players.
In reply, St Cross approached the chase positively. Nicole Fisher and Iris Eshelby opened the batting and gave the side a steady start before Nicole was dismissed for 8. Iris then settled in, playing an innings of 50 from 55 balls to put St Cross in control of the chase. Emily Lawler continued the momentum with an
unbeaten 32 from just 29 balls, keeping the scoring rate high and applying pressure to the opposition. Caity Smyth joined towards the end and finished unbeaten on 10 as St Cross comfortably saw the game through.
It was a fantastic all round performance from the St Cross ladies with a special appearance from Knaggsy who has come back after 3 years! Iris and Emily are now the top two run scorers in the 5 HCL Women’s Divisions with 225 and 212 runs respectively, both from 4 innings.
