Given the damp looking green wicket the St Cross team groaned when they were put into bat but after losing openers Raffi and Sam De H (to a rather dubious LBW!) Freddie and Sam battled to get the innings going until Sam ran himself out for 15 going for a 2nd run. Freddie batted brilliantly, again, retiring on 25. Arthur and Toby batted really well, with Arthur hitting 2 big 6s on the way to retiring and Toby finishing 11no bringing our innings to a close on 118.

We felt it was a competitive total if we bowled well and kept things tight in the field. We also agreed agreed that all bowlers would get 2 overs regardless of what was happening in the match and this helped create a really good team atmosphere. It was a brilliant, high energy well disciplined performance from all 11. Adam set the tone with 3 brilliantly stops in the field in the first couple of overs and all the team rose to the challenge. It was great to see such consistently full straight bowling which made it hard for Trojans to score. Rhys, Raffi, Sam, Oscar and Toby all picked up a wicket each before Trojans ran out of overs and fell short by 16 runs.

It was a slightly different team today and I was really proud of the way they came together and really played as a team and supported each other.
