Having won the toss, our girls sensibly put Alton into bat on an already hot day at 0930. Tight bowling and fielding kept their county players in check although wickets were hard to find. Alton's total of 127 for 2 off 20 overs looked achievable and so it proved. Although we lost 2 wickets, they were unable to control Lucia Kendall's batting and she brought us home with an impressive 59*and the match was won in 17.2 overs.
Alton are our most serious competition locally so our hearts sink when we get drawn against them in the opening round of the Lady Taverners competition. We can now heave a big sigh of relief and get on to planning our next fixture, set for Sunday 10 June against either Hursley Park or South Wilts at home.
