Titchboure Estate, just outside the market town of Alresford, provided a beautiful backdrop for the second match in a row against Tichborne Park. Having won the first match of the season last week, the St Cross team arrived confident of a repeat success but with a new-look team!

This week’s team consisted of: Aditya Shah (C), Vishvesh Jyoshi (wk), Jess Adams, Jess Pardey, Ella Ingham, Josh Hicks, Peter Barker & Ben Tucker.

St Cross won the toss and elected to bowl first on a n overcast morning with weather varying between bright sunshine and a biting breeze! Tichborne amassed a total of 304 from their 16 overs. St. Cross fielded very well with some great boundary saves and no overthrow boundaries…hooray! Special mention to Ella for great bowling figures, just 6 runs coming from her 2 overs!

St. Cross’s batting was opened by the two Jessica’s who did fantastically well against their best bowlers, ending up only 3 runs down after their 4 overs. Given the pace and accuracy of their opening bowlers, they did very well indeed; hopefully next game they can face more ‘normal’ bowling! Ben Tucker excelled, smashing two big sixes in his 19 runs. St. Cross finished on a total of 251, thus losing this return fixture by 53 runs. However, a sterling effort by everybody, especially in the absence of any opportunity to train in the evenings midweek.
