Get to know Kyle, where he's come from, and why he loves to coach our junior players

Kyle has joined St Cross this season as our 'overseas' player. Kyle has strong links to the St Cross family so we couldn't pass up the opportunity to get to know him a little better. Kyle is available for 121 or small group coaching, his details can be found in the 121 section of the contact pages here

Hi Kyle, thank you for taking the time to answer our questions, let's start with where in South Africa are you from?

- I'm from Cape Town

What club do you play for in SA?

- I currently play for Claremont CC who finished 3rd this past season and won it the season before. I finished 2nd on the leaderboard for the most wickets in the league this past season. I played for UWC (University of the Western Cape) from 2018-2021 where I studied Sport, Recreation and Exercise science and graduated in 2021.

How did you get in to cricket?

- I’ve always played cricket from a young age. Starting from playing in the street , to junior club cricket and then to school and provincial cricket.

What attracted you to joining St Cross this summer?

- I’ve always wanted to come and experience cricket overseas. Especially in the UK, what made me choose St Cross was the fact that the club is in one of the top leagues and has a good standard of cricket. Hearing great things about the club from players such as Harry Came and Marvin Williams (2019 overseas) who I know very well, further influenced my decision to join St Cross.

What's the best thing about coaching?

- I've been coaching for around 3 years now and the thing I most enjoy is sharing my knowledge and experience of the game with the younger generation of players. Seeing them grow and improve over time is such a lovely thing to see and share.

Thank you Kyle, we welcome you to the St Cross family with open arms and we hope you enjoy your stay with us.
